Hope House News (October – November)

by Sr Elsa Joseph MSMHC

Rotary Club Matsapha donated cleaning Materials for Hope House, as they do every year. This year 2017 was something very special: they tiled and renovated Unit “I” at Hope House and they shall adopt that house as their own and shall continue to assistus.

One of our patients was admitted with severe cellulitis and is in severe pain and unable to stand or take a step. Another one came a month ago with severe diarrhoea and as a defaulter of ARVs. His mother so lovingly looks after him, in spite of his weak condition. Since few days he began to make some  progress and move around in a wheelchair.

October 30 was a special day for Hope House: the 2017 World AIDS Campaign/World AIDS day Launch took a  different turn when the minister of Health Honourable Sibongile Ndlela Simelane launched the Campaign at the Hope Hosue in Manzini. The Theme for the World’s AIDs day this year is “ENDING AIDS TOGETHER”

The  World AIDS day Campaign is offering space to people to express their views on what needs to be done to end  AIDS, and how can we together, ensure that we realise the dream for an AIDS-free Swaziland: AIDS-free nation by 2022. The minister made a tour around Hope House, visited the clients, handed over food which was donated by NERCHA managers and staff . She was delighted to see such a beautiful, well-maintained place, very clean and user-friendly.

Many guests from the ministry of health, NERCHA, the former Health Minister Benedict Xaba (who is the present director of AMMICAAL) Fr. Larry, Fr. Mahazula were present for the same event.

Thanks to the Marimba and St. John Bosco pre-school for making this occasion beautiful.  Hope House shall celebrate world AIDS day on the 30th November at 10 am, all of you are welcome
